Friday Favorite: Special Plate

Several years ago, before my oldest was one, I made a this special plate.  My plan was to use it whenever we had a special occassion and who ever was celebrating would use the plate.

Well, life happened….and two kids, volunteer work, etc and we found eating out to be so easy for special events so the plate got pushed aside.  While cleaning out the cabinet a few months ago, I found the plate and decided now would be perfect time to start using it.  DD is 6 and totally gets it (of course it helped that she was the first person to use it….twice).

Our new tradition is to allow the person who is celebrating to pick what I make them for supper.  I was shocked at what DD picked for supper (the recipe is coming soon, I promise).  It wasn’t kid food at all and she says my Bake Chicken and Penne is her favorite.

I made this plate using Makit Plates with a La Leche League fundraiser.  I used Word to make up all different fonts and sizes to trace onto my paper in different ways.  I figured this way the plate could be used for just about any special occasion.
