I love the idea of one-pot serving. Because you can make a ton of chili for the crowd without having to wreck your whole kitchen.

2. When you let people bring the sides, you get a combination you wouldn’t have had before. Everyone wants to bring their signature dish. (Those who want to just swing by the market for cole slaw, that’s ok too).

3. Outdoor parties are the best. They’re not so great in July and August here in the Carolinas, but the other 10 months of the year are distinct possibilities.
