On hot days, slow cookers are the answer. I can't handle the heat of an oven that heats my kitchen and living area for over 3 hours.

Thanks for the slow cooker tips.

My family loves having baked potatoes for supper, especially the grandchildren because they can top them any way they wish. I'm retired so I do the cooking during the week but it has gotten TOO hot (triple digits) to use the oven so this is what I do in the summer since I found your post. Using a crockpot also uses less energy so it is a win-win. Try rubbing the potatoes with kosher salt infused with rosemary & basil...delish! Many thanks from my family.

So glad you like the potatoes this way Patty. I don't see why you couldn't do both, but I haven't tried. If you try it will you let me know how it goes? I'd love to know. w-

In reply to <a href="https://www.aroundmyfamilytable.com/easy-slow-cooker-baked-potatoes/#comment-163836">Peggy Kimes</a>.

These are the best Potatoes I’ve have ever ate by doing them this way in the crockpot. No heat in the kitchen. Especially Summer time. When you cut the oven on for a hour it heats the house to an unbearable temperature. It might not take a hour to cook in oven....But It will take forever for the house to cool back down because the air conditioner will be running and burning up a lot more energy! I did my own recipe the same as Yours but After coating them with the olive oil I use herb provenance as a coating on each potato as I put them in. If You Love herb provenance you should love them with this seasoning! They are so delicious!!! I slice onion slices on top too. Yum Yum ???

It's economical. Rule of thumb is that 8 hours in a slow cooker uses half the electricity of 1 hour in the oven. Just read this on another site.
