Getting Organized with Brother P-Touch (& Valentine Breakfast Biscuits)

Valentine Breakfast Biscuits

In terms of full disclosure  I should probably tell you I like things really organized   I’m probably on the edge of having a mild version of OCD.  However, with the arrival of two little ones, I’ve had to loosen my control and things have gotten way out of control.  This year I vow to get my house back into shape!  My first project is my kitchen pantry.  While I was working on it, I whipped up these fun Valentine Breakfast Biscuits with things I found in my pantry.  Plus it kept the kids out of my hair while I was working.

Organize Your Pantry

Cleaning and organizing my pantry ended up being a lot more work than I had planned.  {Isn’t that always the case?}  But, I hate having a bunch of boxes of different products because they look messy and are different sizes…so I continued on.  I hunted and hunted and finally decided on some clear Mainstay containers from Walmart.  I bought them in stages for two reasons: 1. It would have been pricey to buy them all at once and 2. my Walmart only had 4 on the shelf at any given time.  I found equivalent ones on Amazon, but they were a lot more expensive.

After pulling things out of the pantry, I had a jar of strawberry jam that was expiring soon and a tiny bit of powdered sugar that needed to be used up.  I found the can of biscuits in the fridge and knew these would make a fun snack for the kids.  So I whipped up these cute Valentine Breakfast Biscuits in no time.

So back to my organizing…I used the Brother P-Touch to make labels for my containers.  It really couldn’t be any easier.  It was light weight and portable, so I brought it into the kitchen with me.  There were dozens of ways to customize the label, but I picked a basic font so the kids would be able to easily read the labels and grab what they need.  One of the best features is the split backing that makes it easy to peel.

What do you think of my newly organized pantry?  Much better, right?

Canned biscuits and jam come together quickly to create this tasty and cute Valentine's Day Breakfast.

1 can refrigerator biscuits
1/2 cup strawberry jam
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1-2 tbls milk
red food coloring
heart shaped metal cookie cutter

Preheat oven according biscuit can instructions.

Remove biscuits from can and gently separate them. Slice each biscuit in half, being careful to only cut 3/4 of the way through. Open up biscuit and place 1-2 tsp of jam in each biscuit, replace top half, and pinch edges closed.

Gently press cookie cutter into biscuit cutting into a heart shape. Remove outer dough, slide cut biscuit with cutter onto a spatula and transfer to baking sheet sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Remove cutter and repeat with remaining biscuits.

Bake according to package instructions. Meanwhile, mix powdered sugar, milk, and food coloring in a small bowl. Remove biscuits from oven and let cool for 30 minutes before drizzling with icing.
