Kitchen Cleaning Checklist

Need help tackling the day to day tasks in your kitchen? Check out this Kitchen Cleaning Checklist to get you on track. A couple times a year, I do a major deep clean in my kitchen, but it’s those day to day cleaning tasks that seem to get the better of me. I rush through or I skip over things because they don’t “look” dirty. I’ve learned over the years not to pass over things that appear clean because it will just make more work for me in the long run.

Kitchen Cleaning Checklist (daily, weekly, & monthly tasks...all on one sheet)

The reason I focus on keeping the kitchen clean and tidy is because once the kitchen is clean the rest of the house doesn’t seem so bad and is usually soon to follow. However, the kitchen is often one of the dirtiest places in the house and I don’t just mean the dirty dishes but with germs and microorganisms (yes, my minor was biology and it’s really disgusting how horrible our kitchens are).

So at the beginning of the month, make sure to change the sponges and wash your pot holders too. Throw out all those used sponges and rags and replace them with new ones. Ideally, this should be done more like every week, but I make sure to do at the first of the month…that way it’s easy to remember. If you do replace them only once a month, make sure you throw them in the dishwasher every few days to get cleaned and sanitized. Then throw all your pot holders in the wash for a quick clean.bounty with dawn

To keep from spreading germs and for easy cleaning, I really like these new paper towels from Bounty. These paper towels have the soap built right into….I’m already a fan of Dawn so I’m totally diggin’ these new towels! I love using them to keep from spreading germs (from using and reusing and reusing my sponges). Plus since the soap is built in, it’s the right amount for the kids to use when they are helping me clean up. My kids have been know to go through an entire bottle of soap while “helping” me clean up the kitchen.

Kitchen Cleaning Checklist (daily, weekly, & monthly tasks...all on one sheet)

To keep me focused and at on task, I follow this simple Kitchen Cleaning Checklist. Just print it out, laminate it, and put it on the side of your fridge or on the inside of a cabinet door. Then use a white board marker to keep track of what you’ve done each week. At the beginning of the new week, just wipe it off and start over.

I think it is a really smart idea to have a checklist because then you will never forget to clean something in the house. When I was working for a cleaning company, we always used a checklist that was very unique to the company that we were working for. That way we never missed a spot in the building.

I think it is a really smart idea to have a checklist too. Sometimes I get so lost and distracted with the kitchen cleaning I might forget to get something done. Having the checklist really helps me stay on task.
