Easy “Beer” Biscuits

This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure.

Yep, I said it, “Beer Biscuits!” I found this recipe in a really, really old flyer for Bisquick (think 1970’s). Anyway, since I recently figured out how to make Bisquick I thought I would give this a try. It gives the biscuits a nice yeasty flavor with very little effort. The result was a nice dinner biscuit that was super easy to make.

Hubbyman really liked these biscuits…I think he liked the fact that I “forced” him to finish the half beer that I used.

Easy Beer Biscuits

2 cups Homemade Biscuit Mix
1 tbl sugar
6 oz (~1/2 bottle) beer (we used an Amber Ale, but use whatever you have on hand)

Preheat oven to 400F. Spray 12 muffin cups with nonstick cooking spray and put in oven while it’s preheating. Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and beat for about 30 seconds until well combined.

Fill the muffin cups about 2/3 full. Bake about 15 minutes or until golden. Serve warm with butter.

Note:  You can easily double this recipe to use the whole bottle/can of beer  OR you could just drink the rest of the beer.

I’ve been using your “Bisquick” homemade mix for some time now – LOVE IT, but always have a few cups left over and didn’t know what to do with it. Just found this recipe and it was soooo easy! Thanks! Perfect with our Broccoli Cheddar soup tonight!

So, I always wonder… does the brand/quality o fbeer make a difference in beer bread. Bud light biscuits the same as Bud Biscuits???

I don’t know about quality of beer…that would be a good experiment though. We used Fat Tire.

I love easy recipes. We just never have beer in the house, which is why beer bread mixes went unmade. I wonder if you could sub a can of soda (which is what the Pampered Chef consultant told me to do with the beer bread mix.)

I don’t think soda would work the same. The beer just gives it the flavor of a yeast biscuit. Try it sometime if you ever have a beer in the house.

Skye, you can’t taste the beer. It just has a yeast flavor, like you used yeast to make dinner biscuits. It’s really cool! I don’t like beer and I really liked these!

We only purchase alcohol maybe a couple of times a year, and we rarely finish a six pack or whatever we buy, so we often have an extra beer or two sitting in the fridge for a couple of months before it gets finished off. I’ll have to keep this recipe in mind for using it up 🙂
