This Grapefruit Sorbet is full of so much grapefruit flavor. It’s refreshing, tart, & sweet all at the same time.
Every spring my trees are full of citrus and for about 3 weeks, I juice and zest it all. Then store it in small batches in freezer bags for use all summer long. I love the complex flavors of my grapefruits and enjoy making all sorts of crazy desserts and recipes with them, like this grapefruit sorbet.
It is a little tart, a little sweet, but mostly it just has that wonderful grapefruit flavor that I love. So if you love grapefruit as much as I do, you will really enjoy this sorbet.
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 cups grapefruit juice
- 3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tbsp grapefruit zest
- Plan ahead if your ice cream maker needs to freeze before using. Freeze overnight if needed.
- Combine grapefruit zest, sugar and water in a medium saucepan over medium high heat until sugar is dissolved. Stir in grapefruit and lemon juices and chill in refridgerator for 2 hours. Then pour into your prepared ice cream maker and turn on until sorbet is thick and frozen. Pour into a freezer-safe container and let freeze for several hours or until firm.
