When the chores are done, the baby is asleep, and the older kids are at school, there is that moment where all you want to do is sit down with a book and a little afternoon treat. This is one of my most favorite afternoon treats. I make it all for myself and never share.

It sounds mean, but the kids probably wouldn’t like it anyway. Besides, you {and I} deserve to have something that’s just for us. In the calm of the afternoon before the afternoon crazy time begins…it’s your turn to be swept away by one glorious frozen drink. Drink it slowly and savor the peace and quiet. Who am I kidding…sometimes, the house is a mess, I force the kids to watch a movie (on separate couches so they don’t fight) and I make one of these and hide in my bedroom for 20 minutes. Hey…whatever works.

My chai tea frappuccino is made with regular grocery store ingredients…no need to try to find whole star anise or cardamom pods, you’ll find everything you need at the grocery store!

Powdered milk, sugar, spices, fresh brewed tea, and ice all go for a whirl in your blender for a minute. It’s pretty much fool proof. However, plan ahead and steep some tea earlier in the day (or at lunch) and put it in the fridge until you’re ready to make this.

You’ll need this Chai Tea Mix to make this frozen, sweet afternoon treat. But once you make up a big batch you’ll have enough for plenty of hot chai teas or this chai tea frappuccino.
