I was recently asked by The J.M. Smucker Company to create some unique tips for using a new product and I wanted to share with you. All opinions are my own.
This cute Halloween Sandwich Sushi Bento box should really be called the Halloween “Sand-witch” Sushi Bento Box.
I recently took a trip to WalMart and purchased Smucker’s Fruit & Honey spread. It’s naturally sweetened with honey. We tried four varieties in a little taste-test, and they were each delicious. I liked the Blueberry Lemon and it’s bright flavor. The kids loved the Tropical and agreed it was a close race. I loved the bright orange color of the Tropical flavor, so perfect for Halloween! Smucker’s has a coupon offer on ibotta.com so I made sure to scan my receipt to get cash back.
I love making fun lunches for the kids and I am slowly amassing a collection of halloween picks and bento decorations. The halloween sand”witch” sushi bento was easy to make. Cut crusts of two slices of bread and use a rolling pin to flatten and squish them together. You are basically creating one larger flat piece of bread. Cover with the fruit and honey spread and roll up from one end. I then wrapped the roll in plastic and stuck it in the freezer for a bit so it was easier to slice. Choose a spooky pic to hold your sushi slices together. I drew a jack-o-lantern face on a mandarin orange and created fire ants on muddy logs with craisins and chocolate-hazelnut spread. The note is Lunchbox Love Halloween edition from Say Please.
Let me tell you that the kids were raving about their lunch. It was gobbled up, even the celery (which sometimes gets licked clean and put back in the box) had vanished! I hope that this halloween sand-witch sushi bento inspires you to create your own kiddo lunch.
