I love cooking from scratch, but sometimes I like to use a couple pre-made items, combine them and come up with something new and delicious. It’s a nice break from always making things from scratch. And this spicy chipotle ranch dressing is ridiculously simple and really kicks up any salad, especially my Southwestern Vegetarian Salad!

Copycat Outback Steakhouse Ranch Dressing

This spicy chipotle ranch is so easy to make and uses only 2 ingredients. YES….only 2 ingredients! And it is sooooo good! I love the spicy ranch at Outback Steakhouse, so I thought this would give me that same sort of feel on my salad…and yep, it totally does (without the cost and fuss of going out). This Spicy Chipotle Ranch is also quite tasty on a taco salad or as a vegetable dip.

In a simple world, all you need is a partial bottle of your favorite ranch dressing and a tablespoon my homemade Chipotle Seasoning or this store bought chipotle seasoning. I think it would be fun to add this seasoning to a Cesar dressing to get a spicy Cesar (I forget which restaurant does that).

Spicy Chipotle Ranch from Scratch

So, I couldn’t help myself…I had to make a version of this spicy chipotle ranch from scratch. I made a homemade ranch dressing {recipe coming soon} and my own Chipotle Seasoning blend and mixed it up. Y’all, it was even more delicious and only took a few minutes longer to throw together. Totally worth the extra effort in my opinion.

Dairy Free Spicy Chipotle Ranch

My family eats dairy free often and I have several friends that are dairy free as well, so I’ve learned to turn this dressing into a Dairy Free Spicy Chipotle Ranch. I use my Dairy Free Ranch recipe (aka Vegan Ranch Dressing) and the same Chipotle Seasoning and it’s fantastic.

Homemade Dressing FAQs

What to store homemade dressing in?

I know there are cute little dressing jars that you can buy, but I just use the mason jars I already have at home. They look cute, seal tight, and they are free because I already have them. If you don’t want to go out and buy a jar or you don’t have any mason jars try a old, empty and clean jelly jar or small pickle jar. They work great!

How long will homemade dressing keep?

Completely homemade dressing will last about week in an airtight container in the refrigerator. However, if you use my 2-ingredient cheater method of using bottle dressing, then it will last 3-4 weeks in an airtight container in the fridge (as long as you are pouring the dressing out of the container and not scooping it out with a spoon).

I think you’re talking about Bob Evans…and their salad with chicken and tortilla strips and corn and this spicy ranch is the best EVER!

I did not know that there was a Chipotle flavored Mrs. Dash! We love adding chipotle to a lot of our dishes….I’ll be adding that AND a bottle of ranch dressing to my shopping list!

    Thanks so much for sharing!

Great idea, spice up an on hand favorite. My husband is a huge ranch dressing fan, me I like it hot, this might work for us both. And oh yeah the Outback dressing is so good, dip in that onion, my mouth is watering. I think we will have to visit them this weekend.

This dressing sounds so delicious with that chipotle added in. I bet this would be fantastic with a salad that has bacon in it.
