Bacon Habanero Mojitos

Bacon is such a fun addition to just about anything. It is crispy, yet can melt in your mouth. It has a complex and depth of flavor that most foods don’t have and it lends these flavors to everything it’s in. I challenge you to NOT eat all your breakfast bacon and use it in your next cocktail.

Bacon Habanero Mojitos

I honestly can’t wait for my next dinner party because these babies are gonna make an appearance. I think it’s a fun cocktail that can spark a lot of conversation and it tastes freakin’ amazing! In addition to sharing it’s smokey bacon-y goodness with the drink, the bacon soaks up the mojito flavors, so when you bite into it you can taste the drink. Those little rings of habanero don’t look bad, but the longer they sit in the drink, the spicier the drink will get.

I know at first it might seem like an odd flavor combo, but I promise you…it’s delicious and refreshing. My question for you is, will you drink the whole thing yourself or split it with a friend?

Bacon Habanero Mojito cocktail

Bacon Habanero Mojitos

Yield: 2

Spice up your cocktail with bacon and habaneros for these unique Bacon Habanero Mojitos.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bacon, crisply cooked
  • 1 habanero pepper, thinly sliced
  • 10 mint leaves
  • 1 lime, cut in 6 wedges
  • 4 tbs sugar
  • 3 oz light rum
  • 1 cup club soda
  • 2 cups ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Squeeze 4 of the lime wedges and then add wedges to a large cup. Add sugar and mint leaves and use the back end of wooden spoon to mash the limes and mint with the sugar, releasing all the oils and flavor.
  2. Add rum and club soda and gently mix to combine.
  3. Prepare 2 small glasses with ice and a lime wedge. Add half of the habanero to each glass and then equally pour mojito over each cup of ice.
