Chili Dogs: Our Halloween Tradition

This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had chili dogs for supper on Halloween. I’m not sure exactly how this became out tradition, but my mom always said that it was quick, easy, and tasty. And my sister and I were so excited for Trick-or-Treating that there was no time for a full meal. So my mom started this as our tradition when I was a little girl.

Even after I moved out, I still had to have my chili dog on Halloween…sometimes that meant I stopped by a fast food joint to order one and sometimes that meant I opened a can of chili. But now that I have kids, I make them. It gives me a good excuse to make a big ol’ pot of chili. YUM! My mom was right…..they are quick, easy, tasty, and it gets the kids onto what they really want to do…EAT CANDY!

Chili Dogs
–chili
-hot dogs
-buns
-toppings: cheese, onion, mustard, bacon, tomato, jalapeno, etc

I’m not going to tell you how to cook a hot dog or reheat chili. Y’all are smart. I’m sure you already know how to make chili dogs. I just wanted to share my family’s traditional Halloween supper with y’all.
