History of Christmas Wassail

Traditionally, Christmas wassail was a drink made of mulled ale, curdled cream, roasted apples, eggs, cloves, ginger, nutmeg and sugar. My festive Christmas wassail recipe is made without alcohol. It uses cranberry, pineapple and apple juices, plus warm cinnamon. Tart-sweet lemonade is added for a boost of citrus flavor.

I don’t really make this drink for Christmas supper, but I always make it this time of year and for all my holiday parties. Christmas wassail is super easy to make and is good for a nice cold day. It will last in the fridge for a couple weeks and you can just pour a glass and pop it in the microwave if you want. That is…if there are any leftovers from your party.

I’ve tried making the Christmas wassail with a little bit of rum…it is scrumptious. But I always make the big pot of non-alcoholic wassail the way the recipe is written and then if someone wants to add some rum then they can just add it to their mug. Seriously though, it is delish and warms ya up on a cold night.

I love my slow cooker, so if you love your’s as much as I love mine you’re gonna love my other slow cooker recipes.
