Easy Pantry Recipes to Make when you can’t make it to the Grocery Store.
Here are 14 Pantry Recipes that make easy meals for busy weeknights and for emergencies.
Emergencies can happen in the blink of an eye, and it is so important to plan ahead. Did you know that local grocery stores only have a few days worth of supplies and most families only keep about 3 days worth of food in their homes at any given time? Whether you are faced with a job loss, a severe storm, or an illness such as the flu or the coronavirus, having a well-stocked pantry can help ease your mind. That is especially important if someone in your family has special dietary needs, like I do. I like to think of it as a little insurance policy.
When you stock up on non-perishables, shelf-stable ingredients, and common spices, buy the products that you frequently eat and like, but consider supplementing with products that can work as replacements. Powdered milk, canned meats, and dried fruits are good options. When an emergency does hit, you can use your well-stocked pantry to cook up a delicious, filling meal without fighting the Black-Friday style lines at the supermarket.
Budget Friendly Pantry Meals
This list of pantry meals is made up of mostly shelf-stable ingredients and frozen foods. There are even some granola bars and sheet-pan pancakes for breakfast. I included a comforting mac-and-cheese recipe though because it is always a big hit with kids, and most of us have a little bit of cheese on hand. Most of these recipes can work well with substitutions though. You can change the type of pasta, rice, or beans depending on what you have available. Any fresh vegetable can be substituted with a frozen or canned variety.
