I’ve mentioned before that my daughter is on a special elimination diet and with that I’ve learned to read all labels diligently. Just recently, I pulled our favorite steak seasoning (think McCormick) out of the cupboard to make sure it was okay….it was, but it had partially hydrogenated oils in it?!?!?! Why in the world does a mixture of spices need that?
After I picked my gasping mouth up off the floor, I looked at the container closely and I realized that I had every one of the spices listed (and the ones that weren’t, but that I could see in the container) in my cupboard.
It looks almost the same; however, the name brand has a more black appearance to it due to the freshly ground black pepper. I was in a hurry and just used regular ol’ black pepper.
Steak Seasoning
2 tbls coarse kosher salt
4 tsps dill weed
4 tsps coarsely ground black pepper
4 tsps coarsely ground coriander seeds
2 tsps garlic powder
2 tsps paprika
1-2 tsps crushed red pepper flakes
Combine all together and store in an airtight container.
To use: sprinkle liberally on steaks or ground beef for hamburgers

Love this! My hubs and I were just talking about mixing up our own bloody mary spice mix. That’s the same right?

LOL Betsy….I think it would be great in a bloody mary!
